Kenya: Two-time World Championships bronze medalist found dead at her home

Top Kenyan athlete Agnes Tirop was found dead at her home in western Kenya with stab wounds, according to local media reports, which further revealed that the athlete was all alone in the house at the time the police arrived.

The long-distance World Champion who has won two bronze medals at the Olympic games’ corpse was immediately transported to a mortuary pending investigation from state officials.

Authorities say Agnes barely moved to western Kenya last month with her husband and that since the incident occurred late on Wednesday, her husband has not been seen or heard from. This has made the police to consider him as the primary suspect.

Reports revealed that she had a dispute with her husband before the incident.

Kenya’s Deputy President and front runner for the 2022 election, William Samoei Ruto, have officially reacted.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of our world record star Agnes Tirop, a gifted and indefatigable long-distance athlete who kept our flag flying globally. She was hardworking, focussed, and resilient,” William Ruto said

“Our thoughts and prayers to the family, the loved ones, and the sporting fraternity during this painful time. We are together in seeking to unravel the mystery of her death. Rest In Peace, Agnes.”
